The Portable Spray Booth uses filtration to remove contaminants from the air stream. In most configurations, it uses a three-part filtration process: an internal spray filter for overspray, a HEPA filter for fine particulate, and an activated carbon filter for odors and VOCs.

Yes. Portable Spray Booth VOC performance depends on the paint chemistry and SDS details. In most cases, activated carbon filtration will work, and for specialty paints the carbon can be impregnated to improve odor and VOC capture in the Portable Spray Booth.

DIY spray booths can be effective if optimally built, but they carry risks when filtration and airflow are not properly engineered. The Portable Spray Booth from Sentry Air Systems utilizes a three-part filtration system (MERV 7 pre-filter for overspray, HEPA for fine particulate, and activated carbon for odors/VOCs) that is highly efficient and typically not matched by DIY projects.

Safe operation of a Portable Spray Booth is critical. Visually inspect the booth frequently, limit pedestrian traffic in front of the hood, place bulky equipment at the rear of the hood, raise large equipment at least 2” off the surface to allow airflow, and establish a regular cleaning schedule if the Portable Spray Booth is used often.
